NEWCASTLE FAMILY MOURN THE LOSS OF A TRUE GENTLEMAN

The family of a Newcastle man who died during a hunting trip with his son in New Zealand has issued a statement saying he’ll be ‘deeply missed.’

Tony Campbell became separated from his son yesterday in the Fox Valley Glacier.

His son, later discovering the 66-year-old had fallen down a ravine, sustaining head wounds.

Mr Campbell died at the scene.

His family says he was a true gentleman – who died doing something he loved, in a place he was passionate about.

The family of Newcastle man Tony Campbell would sadly like to acknowledge his sudden passing this week.

Tony died in the Fox Valley Glacier in a tragic accident.

The family are glad he was with his son and best mate, doing something he loved very much.

The 66-year-old died in a place he was passionate about, having visited New Zealand many times over the last 30 years.  

Tony was a proud family man who loved his wife, three children, and their partners and his two grandchildren very dearly.

He also adored his extended family, including his mother, siblings and many nieces and nephews.

He was a true gentleman.

He was also a talented builder. 

The family would like to thank the rescuers and everyone in New Zealand who have been so caring and supportive.

He will be deeply missed.
