A man has been charged following the assault of an elderly woman on the Mid North Coast last weekend.
Police allege the man broke into a home on Panorama Drive in Diamond Beach at around 1.30am on Saturday, before confronting and assaulting a 77-year-old woman on the property.
The man then fled the scene.
The woman was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police investigations led them to stop a 25-year-old man on the Pacific Highway in Nabiac, at around 2:30 yesterday afternoon.
He was subsequently charged with a range of offences including aggravated break and enter, commit serious indictable offence, and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.
