The latest economic snapshot for the Upper Hunter paints a positive picture, with the economy bouyed by improving business and consumer confidence.
The Hunter Research Foundation says the renewed optimism has been driven by the recent upturn in thermal coal prices, as well as a strengthening labour market, which has helped lower the Upper Hunter’s unemployment rate.
The report also found the region’s dependence on mining has remained relatively unchanged since 2013.
