Ballina Shire Council is looking to sell a popular but deadly water hole.
Dalwood Falls has been the site of a number of serious injuries and two known deaths – including the most recent in 2014, which sparked a coronial inquest.
Councillors voted to give the Jali Local Aboriginal Land Council the first chance to buy the land, after it was identified as a culturally-significant site.
If no offer is received, the site will be listed with a local real estate agent.
