DUNE FENCING HAS COMMENCED AT OLD BAR

The dunes at Old Bar beach have started being fenced to help tackle erosion.

The short-term solution will stretch 1.4 kilometres along the coast from Badgers Beach to Second Corner.

“Our dunes are so steep that as the sand falls down in gets caught behind the dune fences and that saves it from being washed out,” Elaine Pearce from Old Bar Sand Replenishment Group said.

Meanwhile, the beach’s sand traps are also in the process of being repaired after recent tide activity.
