Newcastle City Council has outlined its plans for Foreshore Park, in preparation for the city hosting the Supercars later this year.
It’s proposing to remove 30 shade trees and 150 shrubs, replacing them with more than 230 new plantings, including 55 NEW Norfolk Pines.
Council says more than a hundred of those will be mature trees, providing more shade.
The event is expected to provide a $57-million boost to the region’s economy over five years.
