Thomas Fancutt has won the men’s singles at the Newcastle Open, after Ben Mitchell forfeited the final due to illness.
It was more of a battle in the women’s decider, taking almost two hours for Gunnedah prodigy Gabrielle O’Gorman to claim the crown.
She beat Sydney’s Natalie Barbir 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, and also won the doubles.
