Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is urging people to avoid swimming in Queens Lake until further notice, after sewerage leaked into the waterway.
The contamination stemmed from a ruptured pipe near the Christmas Cove Caravan Park at Lakewood on Friday.
The spill was contained, but the lake will remain off-limits until the water quality improves.
