A big crowd is expected to descend on the rustic Bowraville track on Boxing Day for the third annual Phillip Hughes Memorial Race Day.
First held in 2014 shortly after the test cricketer’s tragic death, the day will feature 6 races, including the $12,000 Phillip Hughes 4-0-8 Memorial Cup over 1000 metres, which should have at least 8 runners.
Last year’s fixture was washed out and re-run in February.
Hughes rarely missed a Bowraville meeting when he was home in nearby Macksville.
