Gun owners in the Moree area are being reminded of firearm security this festive season with police from the Barwon Local Area Command reporting a rise in firearm thefts from rural properties.
Officers say gun owners need to ensure their weapons are safely stored at all times, and be discreet about gun ownership on social media platforms.
The maximum penalty for incorrect firearm storage is two-years in jail.
