MARK STEWART TWO TIME WORLD ADAPTIVE SURFING CHAMP

Byron Bay surfer Mark ‘Mono’ Stewart has become a two-time World Adaptive Surfing Champion, taking out gold in the 2016 ISA championships in California at the weekend.

Stewart won by an impressive 6.46 points ahead of Hawaii’s Colin Cook – with a heat total of 15.50 in the AS2 stand/kneel division.

“It represents so much to me, especially the second time around. This year it’s just so good to see the youth getting involved more”

It’s the second time the 54-year-old surfer has claimed the title – after winning gold at last year’s inaugural event.
