There was no escaping the queue at Cooks Hill, as thousands of voters hit the pre-polling booth ahead of tomorrow’s Newcastle Lord Mayoral election.
Within the first three hours, more than 700 votes had been cast, while candidates braved the heat to take advantage of the last-minute rush.
Polls open tomorrow morning at 8 o’clock and close at 6pm.
