The charges relate to the alleged sexual assault of two girls – aged eight and 10 – in the Hunter in 2006.

The man, now aged 35, was arrested at Launceston this week, before being extradited to Newcastle yesterday.

He was later charged with seven counts of sexual intercourse with person under the age of 10 and two counts of assault with intent to have sexual intercourse with child under 10.
