Wade Carmichael’s hopes of qualifying for next year’s World Tour officially came to an end this morning after making an early exit from the Vans World Cup.
With clinical precision the Avoca surfer carved out a six point ride – the highest in his heat.
His back up wave then put him in the lead..

It looked as though Carmichael would advance at the final siren… but two late scores saw him drop to third and knocked out of the final QS event of the year.
