Mid North Coast councils are raising concerns over the latest proposed North Coast Joint Organisation.
The revised plan would see the Coffs Harbour, Clarence, Nambucca, Bellingen, Kempsey and Port Macquarie councils brought under the same umbrella.
Coffs Harbour Council’s alarm bells are ringing, saying the inclusion of Port Macquarie-Hastings would cause ‘two separate communities of interest’, something it says goes against the criteria of the JO boundaries.
The new proposal follows the amalgamation of the Great Lakes, Greater Taree and Gloucester councils.
