Oxley police have confirmed they are pursuing a criminal investigation following the ugly and violent display at last weekend’s group four rugby league grand final.
While no charges have been laid, police say a number of players and spectators will be spoken to.
It comes as the West Tamworth Lions commence their own internal investigation into the incident.
A number of players will face a group four judicial hearing later this month.
