The North Stars continue to build momentum ahead of the Australian Ice Hockey League finals, with a positive double-header for the side over the weekend.
Saturday night’s 7-0 rout of Adelaide was Newcastle’s first shut-out of the season.
Beau Taylor did the most damage, scoring four goals.
Last night was a closer contest – with the North Stars going blow-for-blow with the Melbourne Mustangs.
A late goal from the visitors levelled the scores and sent the match to a shootout, which the Mustangs went on to win.
The finals are next weekend in Melbourne.
Newcastle faces Perth in a semi on Saturday.
