Brief chaos ensued in Tamworth’s CBD this morning when power was cut across the city.
At around 10.30 more than 8,000 residents and businesses lost power – Shopping World was thrown into darkness, while blacked-out traffic lights caused headaches for drivers on Marius Street.
The outage was sparked by routine maintenance work on the East Tamworth substation.
Power was restored by 11 o’clock.
