After fifteen years of community lobbying, the Ballina Bypass is officially complete.
The ribbon was cut on the final stage of the 12 kilometre, $640 million dollar project this morning.
“It will be now possible when this is open in the next day or so to drive from Lismore down to Ballina and not have anything to do with the Pacific Highway.”
“It’s safer it’s less travel time it takes the traffic out of Ballina so it makes it more friendly.”
But major road upgrades are still on the agenda – works on the $780 million dollar Tintenbar to Ewingsdale stretch are likely to commence in the next month.
