Port Stephens MP Kate Washington says she’s reeling, following the release of updated health guidelines relating to PFOs and PFOA contamination.
The Environmental Health Standing Committee has deemed that the 2008 European Food Safety Authority’s standards are appropriate for use in Australia.
It means the safe drinking water levels have been raised, compared to previous interim guidelines.
Ms Washington has slammed the decision, saying the federal government has put its bottom line before the community.
