ALSTONVILLE’S HISTORIC CRAWFORD HOUSE TURNS 100

History has been made in Alstonville, with Crawford House marking its centenary.
It was a double celebration for the historical society, who used the occasion to officially open their new headquarters.

Charlene King is to be congratulated for presenting such an accurate story outlining the centenery celebrations at Crawford House Museum and the opening of the new resource centre. On the far North Coast of NSW federation – aged weatherboard homes are rapidly being demolished. How wonderful it is for the residents of Ballina Shire to have such a home in public ownership and open to public.
I am a relative of Eileen Muriel Crawford’s late husband James Arthur & have often wondered why I couldn’t find any information on her. I was elated to see her photo on a webpage celebrating the Crawford House opening.
It’s wonderful to think that people cared enough to restore this beautiful home & for Eileen & Dorothy to experience the joy of being there again.
