Members of a Newcastle family are gearing up for a fundraising event close to their hearts.
Great-grandfather, David Thorpe, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease eight years ago.
Next Sunday, David, his extended family, and little dog Sammy will take part in the annual Memory Walk and Jog at Speers Point Park.
The event raises money for Alzhemiers Australia to provide support services.
