Regional flyers are also being urged to allow extra travel time, following the federal government’s increase in aviation security measures.
Tamworth Regional Council says travellers will be subject to the same level of scrutiny seen in major airports, including explosive trace testing, walk through metal detectors, extra manual bag checks and pat downs.
People are also being reminded to ensure they leave enough time to connect to international flights.
