After numerous attempts to secure an adequate special rate rise Gwydir Shire Council’s wish has been granted.
The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal has approved a 30 per cent increase, taking effect in the next financial year.
This means residential rates will increase by $95, businesses will fork out an extra 228 and farmers will pay $729 more.
