In Group 2 rugby league, Orara had a hard fought win over Bellingen downing the Magpies 30 to 26.
The Ghosts were too good for Macksville and Coffs Harbour won in a tough encounter with Woolgoolga.
For most of the match it was a close tussle with Woolgoolga holding their own with the more fancied Comets.
Two late tries by Coffs sealed their win to cement the club in second place on the ladder.
” It was very tough it was just a grinding performance from both teams just through the middle and our forwards just had a good battle out with each other, it was good to see.”
Next week the Comets will travel to Grafton to take on competition leaders the Ghosts.
