Former Newcastle Jets midfielder Bernardo Ribeiro has passed away overnight, after reportedly falling ill during a friendly match in Brazil.
He was rushed to hospital, but died soon after.
The 26-year-old made six appearances for the Jets in the 2012/13 A-League season.
