An increase in the number of flights to and from the region has paid off, with Newcastle Airport recording a spike in passenger numbers.
More than 287,000 people passed through the terminal last month – up 8 per cent on the same time last year.
An airport spokesperson says flights to Brisbane and the Gold Coast are among the most popular.
The airport recently underwent a $14.5-million redevelopment, to cater for future growth.
