A 28-year-old, self-confessed sex addict, who had been hiding in Coffs Harbour has been sentenced to life plus 15 years,
for the rape and murder of 21 year old French Student Sophie Collombet in March 2014.
A Brisbane Supreme Court today heard Ipswich man Benjamin James Milward committed the offences, while under the influence of a cocktail of alcohol and the drug ice.
The court also heard the victim’s body was found in an inner-city rotunda, with 128 external injuries.
Her family, who flew over for the trial told reporters her bright future was snatched from her by Milward’s selfish, cowardly behaviour.
