QUILTERS GUILD SHOWCASES THEIR ART

Patchwork rugs may be warm and cosy and certainly add a splash of colour to any bed..
But the Gold Coast Quilters Guild is encouraging us to take a different view of these masterpieces made of cloth.
“Quilting is always considered just something you have on your bed and it’s something your grandma makes but today quilts are to be viewed as art works and I think many of them you would love to have hanging on a wall in your house.”
Gold Coast quilters are celebrating 25 years since they first met as a tiny group, at Mudgeeraba showgrounds.
The Guild now boasts more than 200 members.
95 exhibits are on display at the Arts Centre, with the public invited to vote for their favourite, and purchase hand-made Christmas decorations to support the Paradise Kids charity.
