WINTER SPORTS MEDALS FOR UNE STUDENTS

University of New England student Amber Arazny has won Australia’s first World Universiade medal in the snowboard slopestyle event.

Claiming silver last week, Arazny had the honour of being both team captain and flag bearer in Kazakhstan.

“Biggest achievement of any University student in world Snow Games in 32 years, I think it’s a fantastic achievement for UNE.”

Fellow student, Joss McAlpin, claimed a silver medal.

The 22-year-old was second in the big air snowboard competition, helping him earn a $3,000 UNE scholarship.
