MASSIVE FUNDING UP FOR WATERY GRABS

Moree and Uralla councils have been shortlisted for a share in $110-million in state funding to bolster a backlog in much needed water and waste projects.
If successful, the funding would upgrade water supplies for Moree, Ashley and Biniguy as well as improve Bundarra’s sewerage system.
Water Minister Niall Blair said he was ‘ashamed’ the projects had been left for so long.
“Water is such a vital component of any regional community – these projects have been on the backlist for too long and this is about getting on building the infrastructure needed for the communities,” he said.
The successful recipients will be announced by mid-year.
