MEREWETHER’S CALLINAN KNOCKED OUT IN SURFEST QUARTERS

There was disappointment for the locals in the quarter finals of Surfest, with Merewether’s own Ryan Callinan bundled out, despite an impressive display

Callinan lead for most of the heat with scores of 7.6 and 6.9, while Pat Gudauskas grabbed a 9.3 on one of his early waves.

The American found a 5.7 in the dying stages, and despite a strong reply from the Australian, Ryan was knocked out by half a point.
