Residents using the Buckets Way Landfill could be forced to pay almost double to dispose their rubbish.
A second weigh bridge has been introduced at the facility to allow for more accurate charging methods.
“We are expecting some negative feedback but because of the state government charge they have imposed on council we really are just recouping those costs- that’s why the second weigh bridge is in it’s going to improve our efficiency and procedures, Dan Bugitti from Greater Taree City Council said.
Council says it was forced to pay $2.1-million in levies last year.
The changes will come into effect tomorrow.
