A 53-year-old man will remain behind bars after an attempted sexual assault and kidnapping in Taree yesterday.
Police say a 17-year-old girl was walking down Victoria Street at about 11:30am when she was grabbed by a man and indecently touched.
He then proceeded to grab her around the shoulders and threatened her with a paint scraper.
“She managed to break free of this man and two members of the public assisted in apprehending him before the arrival of police,” Supt. Peter Thurtell from Manning-Great Lakes Police said.
Police believe it was a random attack.
The man will re-appear before Taree Local Court in November.
