Gunnedah Mayor Owen Hasler says the town is used to swapping federal boundaries, but it’s concerned about re-joining the largest electorate in the state, which stretches as far as the South Australian border.
Mr Hasler hopes it doesn’t deter progress when it comes to representation.
“The tyranny of distance will be the problem, but we recognise in the present member and hopefully potentially in future members they will have the experience and knowledge and the preparedness to travel.”
However, council is confident in Parkes MP Mark Coulton’s ability.
Mr Coulton has previously been the member when he was the member for Gwydir before moving to the new expanded seat, formerly expanded seat of Parkes, we found him very responsive.
