It’s a case of better late than never for one very happy family and midwives at Tamworth Hospital.
A very cute Roman John Downey has the honour of being the first baby born at the hospital this year.
He was nine days late and one of only two babies delivered yesterday.
“We were booked in for tomorrow, the 3rd to be induced and it was starting to look like we might need that, but I think he was show boating a little bit and looking to be born on New Year’s Day.”
It’s baby number five for proud parents Tarnia and Adam.
Almost a thousand babies were born at the hospital last year.
2016 is expected to be even busier with the new maternity ward open.
