COUNCIL TO CUT JOBS

Coffs Harbour City Council has entered the New Year with plans for more belt tightening, with up to 30 staff to be cut.
The cuts will form part of council’s ‘Transformation to Sustainability’ program which includes the recent rate rise, aiming to deliver $3.5 million in annual savings.
General Manager Steve McGrath says the program will accompany other measures designed to meet targets set in the recent ‘Fit for the Future’ reforms, with deemed that council WAS financially viable.
Mr McGrath says the recent rate rise will help fund future infrastructure including the next stages of the $9.2 million Jetty Foreshores redevelopment.
