PORT MACQUARIE SES CLAIMS FIRST EVER NATIONALS WIN

Port Macquarie’s SES unit has made history, after taking out the prestigious National Disaster Rescue Competition in Victoria for the first time.
After winning the state competition last month, the seven-man side took on six rescue teams from across the country.
“They were all general rescue so you know the usual thing is like search and rescue, rescue from heights, you know mass casualty.”
Unit controller, Kevin Sherwood was also crowned top team leader at the meet.
He credits the win to the quality of the unit’s training regime and its communication skills.
