The wheels have been set in motion to decipher to future of the Casino to Murwillumbah rail line.
Today the Minister for the North Coast, Don Page, announced that investigations into the feasibility of re-opening the derelict service will begin.
The first step is seeking tenders to conduct studies into the viability of the project.
“To look at the costs associated with bringing it back into service, the types of transport, whether it be light rail or heavy rail and even the possibility of connecting to Queensland.”
Advertisments for contractors will start next week and close in January.
The rail has been out of service for seven years.
