The State Emergency Service has issued a flood warning across the North West and New England regions, with local flash flooding expected in the Peel and Namoi river valleys from Friday.
Heavy rainfall is forecast over most inland districts of the state, due to the development of a weather system – which is expected to move over to the Tasman Sea during Saturday.
Residents are advised to contact the SES if in need of assistance.
