GUNNEDAH SHOWGROUND THE PLACE TO BE

Gunnedah’s white umbrella world record attempt tomorrow has been shifted from Donnelly Park to the Showground due to recent wet weather.

3,000 are expected to take part in the event, aiming to raise community awareness of domestic violence.

Rain isn’t a concern for organisers, with white umbrellas provided for the $2 entry.

Tamworth’s Deputy Mayor Russell Webb will make the journey, saying everyone needs to band together to stamp out a region-wide issue.

“250 calls a month in our own city. So that’s in Tamworth. That’s very concerning. Those numbers are growing.”

The event begins at 10am, with buses available for Tamworth and Quirindi residents.
