UNIONS MEET WITH SACKED ESSENTIAL ENERGY WORKERS

United Services Union officials visited Essential Energy’s Port Macquarie office today, following concerns over the treatment of 39 workers impacted by job cuts.

It comes after the Fair Work Commission ordered the company to reverse its notice, telling the staff to stop coming to work.

The union says many of them now feel they’re being bullied into quitting.

“They’ve felt like they’re being ostracised from the workforce. The organisation’s trying to push them out the door, without giving them the appropriate support and also without giving them the appropriate training,” The United Services Union’s Scott McNamara said.

A final decision on whether the staff can be directed to stop attending work, will be made in December.
