WALKING FOR VITAL FUNDS

An emotional candlelight service is about to begin in Tamworth as the region remembers those who’ve lost their battle with cancer.
More than 600 people representing 55 teams are taking part in this year’s Relay for Life, which raises money for the Cancer Council.
Survivors and their carers kicked off the event this afternoon.
Teams will walk around the clock until 10am tomorrow, stopping only for a special vigil.
“The candlelight ceremony at dusk allows people to light a candle and remember those we’ve lost to cancer and then we’ll walk a lap of silence for them as well to bagpipes which is always very moving.”
This is Tamworth’s 10th Relay for Life.
Organisers hope to raise $80,000 for cancer research.
