Three weeks after the Hunter lost a Sydney Sixers trial after a funding request was refused by Newcastle Council, Number One Sportsground has now been deemed unsuitable to host a Sydney Twenty20 Cup double-header.
The Newcastle Steel was supposed to use the ground this Sunday for matches against Randwick and Illawarra.
But efforts to prepare the surface for summer have removed large amounts of grass, forcing the fixtures to be moved to Waratah Oval.
