Residents are being reminded that the bush fire danger period officially begins in the Tamworth region tomorrow.
Late winter rain has encouraged a lot of new vegetation growth and the Rural Fire Service is predicting a tough season ahead.
From tomorrow residents will need a permit to light a fire, or risk facing heavy penalties.
Permits can be obtained from the local fire control centre.
