Richmond Valley Council has joined the rest of the north coast’s local government bodies in supporting a moratorium on coal seam gas exploration.
Last night, councillors unanimously voted for a suspension on all new coal seam gas projects on council owned land, until the state government adopts its new strategic land use policy.
Councillors Stuart George and Charile Cox did not participate in the voting, declaring a conflict of interest.
