Jackson Baker’s quest to climb surfing’s world rankings has received boost, with the WSL confirming October’s Mattara Classic will be a QS 1000.
The Merewether boardrider is currently ranked 144th, but a solid result on his home beach could see him climb inside the top 100.
Finishing the year inside the top 96 would automatically guarantee Baker entry into 6000-rated events.
