CSG RESEARCH TO BE BASED IN NARRABRI

The New South Wales and Federal Governments will spend a combined $3 million to develop a Narrabri-based research centre for the Coal Seam Gas industry.
The CSIRO will partner with GISERA, an industry research body, to look into the social and environmental impacts of CSG extraction across the whole state.
A locally-based committee will be formed to guide the direction of the studies.
It comes after 12 months of petitioning by Narrabri Council for further research into the effects of CSG.
