A sixth rail crossing has opened on Argyle Street in Newcastle, giving pedestrians easier access to the waterfront from Hunter Street.
The crossing is in addition to the five promised by the state government, after severing the inner city rail line last year.
A seventh pedestrian link will be created at Civic Station.
