The Environment Protection Authority has defended its decision to drop its case against Forests New South Wales, over alleged illegal logging at Doubleduke State Forest west of Evans Head.
The EPA was to begin the prosecution last week, but recently received conflicting evidence as to the whether the area logged was actually an Endangered Ecological Community.
The EPA says its disappointed with the outcome and is working to reduce ambiguities.
